Manon Hallay: Dancer
What Moves You?
“When I dance, it’s the only moment where I am really true to myself. You can’t fake it, act it, or lie to yourself too long. Dance allows me to discover who I really am- it’s a beautiful journey.”
Born in southern France, Manon started her dance career in the Conservatoire de Tarbes before moving to Bordeaux at the young age of 13 to study under Christian Conte and Martine Chaumet. Two years later, she was invited to the renowned Royal Ballet School of Antwerpen to work with the illustrious choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Elke Schepers, Alexei Kremnev, and Michael Shannon. In 2013, Manon was furthermore handpicked to be a scholarship student at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City. Today, Manon is the artistic director of Les Ballets Nomades, and has worked with Jeffrey Page and Darshan Bhuller as part of the Amanda Selwyn Dance Theater since 2014. She also joined Notes in Motion in September of 2016, where she currently works as a teaching artist in several schools across New York City. She also joined Vision Contemporary Ballet in April 2017.
