Emmie Murphy: Assistant to the Executive Director – New York City Ballet
“What Moves You?”
Being able to commit myself to something I love everyday, which I really get to do in my current position. My favorite internship during college was working on a museum exhibition entitled ‘Dance! American Art 1830-1960’, which aimed to capture dance in all its forms as expressed through the visual arts. Having grown up as a ballet dancer, this experience gave me my first taste of working on something that combined multiple interests and passions, and eventually led me to my job at NYCB. I feel very lucky to be constantly surrounded by dedicated artists and arts professionals, and it’s inspired me to keep dancing in my free time and doing what I love — even if it’s just for fun!
Emmie is the Assistant to the Executive Director at New York City Ballet, a position she has held since 2014. Emmie is a graduate of The College of William & Mary in Virginia, where she received a BA degree in Art History and French Language and Literature.
