Lindy Fines: Artistic Director/Choreographer of GREYZONE
What Moves You?
“My dancers! Working with talented dancers endlessly inspires me and helps me feel connected to my love of the physicality of the body and the dance world in general. Their dedication and endless commitment to what is a challenging art form, both physically and economically, makes me want to provide a healthy and supportive environment as well as an artistically exciting one.”
Lindy Fines cofounded GREYZONE with artist Justin Fines to further explore the intersection of dance, sound design, time-based media and the visual arts. Fines’ choreography has been presented in NYC at Abrons Arts Center as part of New Dance Alliances’s 30th Anniversary Performance Mix Festival, FLICfest 2014 at the Irondale Center, Movement Research at the Judson Church, The Flea, Dixon Place, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, and Mike Perry’s ‘Wandering Around Wondering’ art space. Fines was a resident artist at New Dance Alliance, and the Socrates Sculpture Park as part of Norte Maar’s Dance at Socrates. She choreographed and co-directed a short film ‘Queens Duets’ that screened at the International Dance Film Screening (NYC), Philadelphia Screendance Festival, Fine Arts Film Festival Santa Barbara, and Salamanca Moves/Movies by Movers (Australia). Fines received her BFA from the University of Oklahoma in dance and trained on full scholarship at the Merce Cunningham Dance Studio.
